Sudden single molar removed – what to replace with? : Dentistry

Based on reading a wiki page, looks like mandibular second molar no. 31. Was going to get a crown after a root canal, but crack was much worse than anticipated (I have hit my head a lot and have cracks), and now it’s out.

The teeth on either side of it are fine, and it wears against a super gold crown. I kind of like having two chewing zones, so I figure replacing it with something is best.

I have one implant, but it’s funny to chew with. Very rigid, no shock absorbing. But it’s easy to clean, just sits there, and is rock solid.

Dentist suggested removable or fixed / permanent bridge. When I look up this stuff, I get disaster mouths with gobs of teeth gone. That’s not what I have, just two solid old teeth with a fresh gap.

Suggestions on how to evaluate what to do? Good plus and minus pages? Help!!!
