Root scaling questions : Dentistry
I don’t need any scaling yet, as I only have a couple 4mm pockets. However I am concerned for my future need for root scaling. I brush twice a day and try to floss Everyday yet I still have a couple 4 mm pockets every time i get my teeth cleaned. Hygienist says nothing too serious, just some gingivitis. All the rest are 2-3mm. Is this “bad” or typical? I really do not want gum disease.
That being said, in the case that I need root planing/scaling, what is the outlook afterwards? Do you need root scaling for the rest of your life or can the symptoms improve with oral hygiene habits and it’s a one time procedure. I’m 21 years old if that means anything.
